Design your own 2 tier cake – full day session

Skill level: Intermediate level

Course content:
In this workshop we will guide you through the stages of how to design and professionally create a 2 tier special occasion cake.  

You will be working on a vanilla sponge cake pre filled with strawberry conserve and vanilla buttercream and a chocolate sponge cake filled with Belgian chocolate ganache.

The course will cover:

·         Basic cake covering techniques complete with tips on how to get that perfectly smooth finish!

·         How a securely tier and position your cakes

·         General tips on cake design

·         Creating a your own beautiful sugarcraft cake topper

·         Designing your own cake pattern and how to transfer your design on to your cake

·         Using Royal icing to hand pipe your design on to your cake

·         Mixing colours to create beautiful pallets to bring your design to life

·         Tips on storage and  transporting your 2 tier creation.

 How to professionally cover & present a cake

In this 3 hour workshop we will guide you through the stages of how to
professionally cover & present a single tier cake, essential for any special occasion cake.

Skill level: complete beginner or refresher course

The workshop will cover the following:

Levelling and preparing your cake for covering
Working with marzipan and sugarpaste to successfully cover your cake, plus tips!
Working with food colours and sugarpaste to create beautiful colour palettes and schemes.
Making gorgeous small roses using our simple methods
Positioning your cake and presenting it on a neatly covered cake board
Basic tips on decoration techniques

You will go home with:

A beautifully presented cake
Confidence in your new-found skills
A firm understanding of the methods & techniques required to professionally cover a cake
